Prime Minister Nōpele Fakafanua has confirmed to Fetu‘u ‘Esiafi that his Cabinet will be officially announced on Monday, 5th of January 2026.
In a statement, the Prime Minister said he would hold private briefings with each appointed minister to outline his vision and priorities for the first 100 days of government.
He also revealed plans to recruit a team of independent specialists and advisers to support his leadership and provide technical expertise across all ministries, a move he said is necessary to ensure the ship sails smoothly, as it will be a tight ship.
Addressing widespread public concern, the Prime Minister acknowledged that corruption remains a serious challenge and pledged to clean up government institutions to help restore public trust.
When asked whether Piveni Piukala would be included in the Cabinet, the Prime Minister responded,
“All I can say is that he has a pending case.”
