Prime Minister Hon. Nōpele Fakafanua has officially submitted his proposed list of Cabinet Ministers to His Majesty King Tupou VI, in accordance with the Tongan Constitution.
In a brief statement to Fetu’u ‘Esiafi News, the Prime Minister confirmed that a formal press release on the appointment process is expected later today. However, he emphasised that the names of selected Cabinet members will remain confidential until they receive royal approval.
“There are so many rumours and pieces of misinformation. I find it hilarious,” said Fakafanua. “But to maintain the integrity of the process with the King, I won’t release names until they are finalised.”
He further clarified that the Cabinet was chosen solely from among his 16 supporters and promised a disciplined administration.
“Once our full plans roll out on the 5th of January, it will be a tight ship,” he added.
